Re: The Falcon Collection from Warner Archives
I have seen Tom Conway in a few films, but I actually haven't seen any of his Falcon films. I am quite interested to see how he takes over the role.

Re: Joseph Calleia
Wow, thanks for the youtube links, Jack! Some of those I haven't seen yet, so I'll definitely check them out! I am lucky enough to own "Algiers." I do really love Calleia's character in that and how he's so dedicated to his little game of cat-and-mouse -- so much so that he doesn't know wh...

The Falcon Collection from Warner Archives
I was so excited to find a collection of all the George Sanders Falcon movies from the Warner Archive on Amazon the other day. I am a big fan of both Sanders and these fun films. Unfortunately, most the reviews on the discs are decidedly negative, complaining about poor disc quality. Apparently the ...

Re: What are you reading?
I have been reading a lot of Dashiell Hammett lately, mostly his stories featuring the Continental Op character. I find this character really unique for all the hard-boiled detectives of that time and now. It's always refreshing to have a character who is older, a bit on the fat side, and who bungle...

Ack, I am late to the Joseph Calleia party! Look at what happens when I take a hiatus from the forum--I miss all the excitement! Welcome to the forum, Joe! It is great to see another Joseph Calleia fan. Quite awesomely, there are quite a few of us around these parts. :) That's awesome that y...

Re: Future Nominees for Summer Under the Stars
Frank McHugh (well y'all know about me and my love for Frankie) [...] Joseph Calleia Yes, yes! I completely agree. In fact, I was just thinking today how I would love to see Joseph Calleia featured on TCM's wonderful summer program. You beat me to it! I'd really like to see more character actors fe...

Re: The October Schedule for TCM
Oh my, I just noticed that TCM will be playing all the Saint and Falcon movies tomorrow morning! I've always wanted to see those, since I am quite a fan of George Sanders. Unfortunately, my DVD recorder is broken! Why, of all the days, must it be broken for tomorrow morning? If anyone gets the...

Re: Classic Films for Non-Enthusiasts
Apologies again for scattered/late responses.
I am doing classic horror movies for the month of October, starting with The Haunting! I'm thinking I'll show my favorite The House on Haunted Hill next.
Thanks for all your suggestions, everyone! I'll definitely keep them all in mind.

Re: Classic Films for Non-Enthusiasts
Apologies for my late response; I've been a bit under the weather for some time. To clear up the type of "community" I meant: As a matter of fact, this is an event for college students! I have been put in charge of organizing events for my fellow students in my major, so I thought: "W...

Re: Old Time Radio on itunes
Norf, Have you done a google search for "Halls of Ivy"? I was sure that some collector was offering them, but it was several years ago. I didn't get them, but I am curious myself since that program always got high praise for its wit. I could have sworn that I googled that show in the past...

Re: Old Time Radio on itunes
Yes! Also, YouTube has a great selection of old radio shows! Besides Lux Radio Theater, my favorite is the "Suspense" show, which features the vocal talents of many classic film stars. Of course the ones featuring Ronald Colman are my favorite. ;) I really wish I could find more that just ...

Re: Choose a companion
This was fun to think about, but difficult to really make a decision! In reality, I think I would just like to listen to each one of these people talk about their life and experiences. Unfortunately, if this were real, I would probably just sit there in complete awe, mute as usual, looking like a sl...

Re: Favorite Feel Good Movie
Classic films can lift my spirits like nothing else! For me, The Prisoner of Zenda (1937) always lifts me out of a funk and puts me in a great mood. Last spring, my spirits took a serious nosedive. What helped? Sitting on the couch, eating ice cream from the container, and getting a double helping o...
