I agree. That is why so many don't know who Eleanor Parker is/was. She so became the part no one thought of HER.
I think JC was in that class. I am a fan both on and off the screen.

Re: The Jones girl-Shirley
RR, April Love was one of my all time favorite movies while I was growing up. The scenes of Shirley and also of Pat Boone driving those sulkies were pretty exciting! and it was easy to tell the ones with Shirley, at least, were authentic. Did Pat Boone also do his own driving? I still drag that mov...

Re: The Jones girl-Shirley
I was called on to teach Shirley Jones the basics of driving a trotting horse for some scenes in April Love. She was a delightful person. AND, she took to the driving so quickly and well that had she chosen to could have gone right up the ladder in the world of trotting horses. She was absolutely am...

Re: Joseph Cotten
I found that many actors just play themselves no matter the part ie John Wayne, etc. etc. etc. But I tend to admire their acting abilities if they actually become the part. I always thought that of Joseph Cotton. When I worked with him in Killer Is Loose I was amazed at his personality. Don't know w...

Re: Do You Have Trouble getting others to watch classics?
Before his car accident my husband would leave the house before watching one of the classic movies with me. After he came out of the hospital with a bi-lateral-basal-skull fracture he loves them. Good grief. I said if I had known that I would have punched him myself. Hahahahaha! Now he watches them ...

Re: BARBARA STANWYCK: December 2012 Star of The Month
I have never ever heard anything but good comments about Barbara off screen. What a class act she must have been. I know that Donna Hall doubled her in her westerns and after every filming she gave Donna a lovely present ie Safire cufflinks, etc. Contrary to Gail Davis giving her a deck of Annie Oak...

Re: JOAN BENNETT: THE QUIET STAR
I enjoy reading about everyone's thoughts of Joan Bennett and the parts she could play. No one has mentioned 'indifference'. When she was married to Walter Wanger she would go to the polo games and sit in a box to watch him play. She would read a book! When Walter made a good shot or even a goal hea...

Miss Goddess:
Re Lana Turner - I think she was the cutest human being I have ever seen. Perhaps another, like Linda Darnell, whose true magic was not captured by the camera.

Re: Welcome to Martha Crawford Cantarini
I trust your eyewitness account. You've been straight about everything else and have nothing to gain by it. Martha, this is a silly question but when you are talking about 'chicken wings', is that sort of how Glenn Ford rides his horses in westerns? With his arms in the air? I've heard people say h...

Re: Welcome to Martha Crawford Cantarini
I don't know if I will ever be able to watch one of them again with the same feelings, knowing that they didn't care about animals. All I know is what I personally saw with my own eyes. I was there. They sure didn't care on those days! Although I am sure their PR people would have said I was wrong....

Martha---I have been busy with a move so was unable to join in the marvelous discussion this week-end, however I do want to jump in with many, many thanks to you for being here, for sharing so generously of your memories of a time I wish I could have experienced. It sounds like you had the greatest...
