Re: 2011 TCM Festival
May I chime in? I suppose I really cannot add anything to The Constant Nymph comments, but I'm compelled to blather a bit because I was absolutely knocked out by this film. Joan Fontaine has never really captured me. Her fragile Peggy Day ( The Women ), Maxim's timid wife (and Mrs. Danvers' submissi...

Fascinating Rhythm is an amazing number! The behind-the-scenes view of this number as featured in That's Entertainment, Part III is fascinating. So much work involving carefully choreographed crew all to make it look "simple". Isn't this also the film wherein Miss Powell dances with a dog?

The Constant Nymph is high on my list, too, and the Nicholas Brothers tribute sounds intriguing. Absolutely gotta see Went the Day Well? and Hayley Mills introducing Whistle Down the Wind . The get-together on Thursday afternoon is maybe #1 on the list. Want to see the Laugh-O-Grams either Thursday...

Helen Hunt! You know we see these names so often that we all have them memorized; yet they're more elusive than Garbo. Sure we've seen Edith Head, James Wong Howe, Bernard Herrmann and Adrian, but most of the behind-the-scenes names remain there. I was excited when I found Sidney Guilaroff making a ...

I hadn't realized Nancy Kelly made any movies before The Bad Seed. My impression was that she was a stage actress who came out from New York to shoot the film. Have any of our SSO denizens seen her earlier films?

MR, I saluted Harlow in a birthday tribute on Friday with a lovely image. And TCM is saluting her as their Star of the Month every Tuesday evening in March. Enjoy. Yes, I noticed and appreciated the tribute, Joe. Thanks! That's what reminded me that it was time Obama made a proclamation regarding o...

Tony Randall looks like he could be Raymond Burr's brother there!
Loved the picture of the disembarking MacDonald and Raymond. I'd like to see the home movies of this trip. It would be fascinating to see Hawai'i as it was in the 1930's.
