Re: Dry heat on a merry-go-round.

I've seen this event a number of times, but can't name any titles: In the desert, trying to get out of it, and short of water. Someone takes the last drink from a canteen, or tries to take a drink and finds it empty. They throw in away, with no thought to the possibility that they may find water la...

There are more than a few Kirk movies that I like, such as “... O.K. Corral”, “In Harm’s Way”. “Detective Story”, and others, but he does seem like a natural when it comes to playing a jerk. Kinda like how I feel about Newman in “Hud” or “Hombre”: seems like the jerk character comes a little too eas...

Hollis, I agree that Arlene Dahl was very attractive. Can't help you with interpreting the movie because I bailed.

As somebody who considers himself to be rather wayward and forgetful of titles but still fond of the genre, it's difficult for me to think of "Will Penny" as underrated except as possibly underacknowledged as one of the best westerns ever. As for the rest, I'll be looking, you can be sure....

Despite being a sucker for movies set on rocky seashores (it was my good fortune to spend most of my brief army stint at Ft. Ord, near Monterey and Big Sur), the overwhelming negativity of this film had me up off the couch at 50 minutes in to see just how much longer of the domineering Ms. Peters I ...

I always assumed Roy Rogers and some of the others were making movies for children. Kinda like Lassie, complete with feel-good hokeyness and cardboard villains. From age eight to eleven (1963-66) I was in France with my air force family, with basically no TV at all, and almost every Saturday morning...

Nice to see The Prisoner acknowledged in any context, but disappointing to find no Green Acres.

SPTO - I usually enjoy Costner, although I sometimes gather that it's not hip to say so. He is a dreamer, especially in Wolves, but it is quite entertaining and holds up well through multiple viewings. I even like him in The Postman and Waterworld, though the critics tell me they're duds. Maybe it's...

I noticed Nancy. It was good to see. Nice to get a nod from the folks behind the curtain.

Am I correct in thinking that though it has been a week since the implementation of the TCM board "upgrade" and the delivery of the ostensibly valuable "ignore button", the TCM admin and technical people have not posted a single message acknowledging the mess they've made? Nothin...

I really like both "Survivorman" and "Man vs. Wild". Almost makes me want to go out and get lost somewhere (I live in Nevada). Both the general lessons and the specific techniques have made me a little more confident that I could pull it off if the car broke down in the middle of...

Angie Dickinson in some fifties western the title of which I forget. Can't remember the title but the image of her in brownish jeans remains emblazoned on my cerebral cortex.

To me "The Bishop's Wife" is close to perfection as a film. The first half of "The Farmer's Daughter" is lovely in the way it develops context, with the solid and animated chemistry of the Young, Cotton, Barrymore, and Bickford characters. After the Young character gets into the ...

Second time I've seen it and I consider it very entertaining. With Robinson and Welles it almost has to be, right? The only sense in which it stretched my credulity had to do with the reluctance of the Young character to wake up and smell the coffee. I realize she was in love but it seemed like she ...
