Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
To be honest, I feel that a "like" button discourages interaction and is a net negative in a forum. It's far to easy to just click "like" and move on, which we see on Social Media all the time. A forum like this is meant for discussion, not garnering "likes". I am not ...

Re: White Cargo (1942)
This may be the one line in the film, spoken by Tondelayo to Langford, that could not be said in a film today:
"Please beat me. Then maybe you feel much better. Soon we make up. Much love. Many bangles."

Re: Lawrence of Arabia -- Epic historical drama
1963 was a very competitive year for Oscars. All the nominees in the acting categories gave memorable performances. Ed Begley, who won for Best Supporting Actor, did a good job playing a typical overblown Tennessee Williams Big Daddy type, but I agree Omar Sharif deserved the Oscar. In terms of Lawr...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
One of my favorite movie lines is spoken by Mae West in Klondike Annie (1936). In response to Harold Huber's (Chan Lo) loquaciousness, Mae (as the San Francisco Doll) replies: "You never can say anything the short way, can you?" [/size] My point being that the San Francisco Doll would pref...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
FWIW, my vote would be have a "Like" button and perhaps a "LOL" button, but NOT to have any sort of "Unlike" button and for two reasons regarding the latter. Those being that, first, there is already much too negativity to be seen on the Web, but secondly and most impo...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
Appears to me we need to NOT have any more buttons. A like button means that you agree with and support the post. Not having a dislike or disagree button requires that a poster questioning the post quote and comment if there is a Like button available. Assumptions would be some people Liked the pos...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
Another reason I like "like" buttons is that they can discourage excessively long posts at times when they may not be necessary. A "like" button allows one to express a simple opinion neatly and leanly wrapped up with a click of a button. But I realize Mantan Moreland would disag...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button
I understand the need for, and uses of, a "like" button. Sometimes someone posts something that I agree with -- perhaps an opinion about a film, or something like that. A "like" button is a simple way of signifying agreement, rather than writing a post which might just say "...
