What was syncopation station?

Post by Bogie »

So i'm totally bored and I was looking at youtube videos. I found an old TCM spot for syncopation station? What was that? How long did it last? and did you like that particular block on TCM?

It was usually a Sunday morning slot dedicated to musicals. Just like "Darkness After Dawn" was for noirs. It must have run a few years but I'm not sure.

Right--that was an intro for musical movies once shown in a regular time slot on TCM.

I used to seethe whenever I saw that otherwise very well-constructed and clever montage of film clips, because there is a shot of Ginger dancing alone that is actually from a duet she does with Fred ("Bouncin' the Blues" from The Barkleys of Broadway. No doubt TCM was afraid of Astaire's widow and simply deleted any images of him from a promo meant to celebrate great Hollywood musicals.
