One of the best of the early gangster dramas -- and a product of Louis B. Mayer's MGM, no less. Along with "The Big House" and "The Secret Six", this film rivals Warner Brothers' best. The most violent and uncompromisingly brutal crime drama until "Scarface".

It's films like these that gets my ire when TCM wastes their programming hours on modern films that are shown hundreds of times a year on many other stations.

I really wanted to see this one!!

But a 2 a.m. call-out for a broken pole up in Lamoille County cheesed that plan!
(Just wait til one of those declining employees needs a favor from the Chief . . the answer's gonna be a short one!)
Now I'm going to have to try & track down a copy of BotC; eBay's already feeling shallow!

Bogie, I feel your pain. Why the showed the ending (Knowing that it would air soon) is beyond me. They did the same thing in the doc. with Three on a Match which they just about told and showed the whole premise of the film.
I taping "Beast" to watch later tonight.

I wasn't able to catch the whole movie but the ending certainly was bizarre. It's the first time I see one of Walter Houston's early films.

Oh well....one of these days it'll show up again. Knowing my luck it'll be 5 years from now!
