2011 TCM Festival
Re: 2011 TCM Festival
KA-BLOOEY!
That sound you heard is my head exploding.
You will probably hear that sound again in late April emanating directly from Hollywood Boulevard as I contemplate the schedule and try to decide which films I can't miss I'm going to have to miss so I can see that other film I can't miss.

I am liking the latest entries best of all. Too bad I can't be there again, but I hope everyone has a great time and, as last year, keep us informed of your experiences!

MsG,
I am sad to hear that you won't be able to be with us this year at the Festival. I was looking forward to seeing you again! Hope all is well and I will keep my fingers crossed for next year!

Hi,
What happened to "Carousel" and "The Constant Nymph"? These are two I've never seen and the two I am most interested in..

Robert Osborne has been mentioning The Constant Nymph in as many of his intros and outros as he possibly can, so I am pretty sure they won't have a last minute schedule change. I think it's a pet project for him - he seems genuinely excited about it.

I am disappointed, Lynn. But I guess it was not meant to be. I would love to be there, if only to hang out with all of you and see my friends I haven't seen in years. Next time, I hope things will work out better, God willing.
I will be at the "Road to Hollywood" (love that tag) event tomorrow evening, though, which is something to look forward to. If they let me bring a camera, I may post pictures with Mr. O and Miss Lansbury.

Re: 2011 TCM Festival
Larry,
The Constant Nymph is still on the schedule but, so far, there has been no announcement as to who will introduce the film. There seems to be a handful of films like that.
Hopefully, negotiations will tie up all the loose ends and we will get the schedule sometime next week.
Don't forget, we have a gathering at In-N-Out Burgers on Thursday afternoon. Come meet Kyle, filmlover, SueSueApplegate, MoraldoRubini, Jezebel,Kingrat, Pvitari and more!
As soon as we have an idea of what time the TCM festivities begin, we will set the Gathering time!
Stay tuned! Can't wait to see you again.
I think MrCutter is coming this year!

Re: 2011 TCM Festival
Hi,
Thanks Lynn & Paula for letting me know that both films are still scheduled....
I'll be glad to see you, Lynn, and Jon again... So glad to know Marco will be there too!!
I still have your cell phone number, so will coordinate with you when I get there - I'm coming in Wednesday at noon; am staying at the Renaissance, as the Roosevelt lost my reservation. I have a code number for it but they don't!! Not impressed....

Re: 2011 TCM Festival
My head just exploded again.
Is there way I could get cloned between now and the end of April so I can see everything?
All those restored Roy Rogers movies I'm drooling to see are scheduled against other movies I'm also drooling to see!

Re: 2011 TCM Festival
King,
I agree, we can officially be excited!
I am thrilled beyond words that TCM chose the Laugh-O-grams to kick off the festival. Everyone here at the Museum is thrilled. I do hope that many of you going to the Festival will be able to come to the grams on opening night. The program only runs an hour at the most and former SSO guest, JB Kaufman will be introducing the shorts and talking about why they are so important.
They are the earliest known animation by Walt and his crew in Kansas City in the early 1920s. The Walt Disney Family Museum and MOMa partnered with TCM to make this screening possible. There will be live piano accompaniment by musician Ben Model. It should be a great way to start the Festival!
I hope to see you there!
Other good news, this morning it looks like another lost film of Walt's, Hungry Hoboes, an Oswald the Rabbit cartoon from 1928, was located in a film archive in the U.K.
And yes, planning continues on the famous In-N-Out Burger gathering for that Thursday afternoon!
