In the news...
I don't know what's been going on between ZZ and her daughter lately - but I'd guess it hasn't been pretty.
I remember some talk show or other where ZZ and Francesca (Hilton) appeared together; Francesca looked to be somewhere between 16 and 18 at the time. She was a rather plump and unprepossessing looking young woman. What I remember is that ZZ hardly let the girl speak, and when the hapless girl did get a word in edgewise, ZZ contradicted everything she said. When Francesca tried to describe her mother as glamorous, ZZ said something like "Oh, glamorous! Is that the best you can do?" And I don't think she was kidding.
It was very uncomfortable to watch. I can't see ZZ as the warmest of parents -- she strikes me as someone who did not like anyone else getting attention that she felt should have been directed at herself. I also wonder if Francesca's sort of anti-ZZ appearance was a conscious decision of her own, or if it was encouraged by ZZ to keep the limelight off her younger, and potentially rival, daughter. I don't know how Francesca looks these days, but it seeme to me she was trying hard then not to be in a position to draw any comparisons with her mother. That was a heavy burden for a young person to bear.

I've always felt that, when dealing with a Gabor and the age factor, that it is best to convert it to Mayan hieroglyphs and decide which calendar to use, the long count or the short count. Then add the years since the Spanish Conquest of Mexico, and divide by 5.11 3/4 (the average height of all Gabor husbands) and/or the cumulative total of real estate by the square foot (whichever is larger.)*

I can imagine it might not have been easy to have Zsa Zsa as your mother. I would have just wanted to hang out at Aunt Eva's anway.I remember some talk show or other where ZZ and Francesca (Hilton) appeared together; Francesca looked to be somewhere between 16 and 18 at the time. Forget Zsa Zsa! I think I'll use this formula myself! After lo these many years of toil in the laboratory in Switzerland and vials and vials of sheep cells, logarithms, a visit to the Fort Davis Observatory, seven lords-a-leapin', six golden rings, a rubber chicken and a bag of salt water taffy, I am happy to officially announce the public unveiling of my discovery of the coveted formula.

Hey, great formula, Christy. Do you think that you could also come up with one to calculate one's weight as "accurately" as this? Btw, if you see me on the street rolling a hoop and wearing a "onesie" it's because I've re-examined my present age using the above analytical tool and found those items to be much more "age appropriate" for me now.I've always felt that, when dealing with a Gabor and the age factor, that it is best to convert it to Mayan hieroglyphs and decide which calendar to use, the long count or the short count. Speaking of age appropriate behavior, what ever happened to that looney mugging case that left Prince Frederic Von Anhalt sans clothes and tied to his steering wheel?
Hope poor Zsa Zsa--whatever her age--is feeling a bit better after her latest ordeal.
I don't know what happened, but my mom and I got a kick that he called Entertainment Tonight immediately after it happened. The pictures of him naked and handcuffed to the steering wheel were hilarious. Don't call the cops, call Mary Hart, right?moirafinnie wrote:Speaking of age appropriate behavior, what ever happened to that looney mugging case that left Prince Frederic Von Anhalt sans clothes and tied to his steering wheel?
For days, my mom and I would do something inconsequential and then yell at each other, "Call Entertainment Tonight! Hurry!" I'm sure the neighbors loved it.

Man! I completely missed that one.
Mugged Gaborable Left With Emperor's New Clothes!
Yep. I'm nekkid and attached to the steering column of an upscale sedan and the first thing I want to do is call "ENTERTAINMENT, Tonight!"
What a hoot!

Variety announced more casting on the new movie production of Claire Booth Luce's The Women. Bette Midler, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fisher, Joanna Gleason, Ana Gasteyer, Debi Mazar and Lynn Whitfield have now been announced. I haven't seen any mention of who they're playing. Click here to see the who's already been cast.

Haberdashery, anyone?
GQ has listed their 50 Most Stylish Men. It's "littered" with actors from classic movies. Some nice, unusual pics too (e.g., darned Paul Newman?!).

Strike a pose...
I saw something on The Today Show about this GQ ish. Isn't it the magazine's 50TH anniversary? I've been anxious to pick it up since seeing the story. I LOVED GQ in the '70's. Conde Nast changed the whole feel of it...in the early '80's.
