This wasn't easy.

My final answer is: Silver Screen Oasis

It's a hard choice.

It came down to Silver Screen Oasis, Hollywood Babble On, and everybody's favorite, Shangri-La-De-Da.

I've tried to picture the logos for them at the top and all look good in my mind, but I decided against my own because why waste a vote since it won't win? I also thought long and hard about Hollywood Babble On because it is a very clever use of words, but I hate to think we are babbling. However, Silver Screen Oasis had me imagining a beautiful place of the glory days of Hollywood movies, a desert paradise for knowledgeable fans of movies to laze around and discuss things. Sort of a place you would see in a Rudy Valentino or even a Bob Hope/Bing Crosby Road picture.

So, my vote goes to Silver Screen Oasis.

The Plastic Age. Of course.

I'm not sure if this will influence voting or not, but the text of the novel that The Plastic Age is based on is available as a free download here. I read a couple of chapters of it, and man, is it a stinker.

It might be interpreted as electioneering, but so far you're right. It stinks. No wonder it is in the public domain. And I think my next screen name should be Hezekiah!

Hi CharlieT,
I'm so happy that you decided pay us a visit and participate in one of our first tasks--thinking up a new name for a fresh 'n crispy new website. I hope that you will take your time and get to know our little playground here, post away and ask any questions or make any suggestions you think might be needed. Thanks for being one of the gang.

I remember the first time I heard "Midnight at the Oasis" on my car radio, in the Summer of '73, I thought sure it was the new Holiday Inn ad.
And a month later, I bought the LP.
What can I say? Steve Miller had evaporated, Tull & Fleetwood were on hiatus, and the Eagles were still just a rumor.

Thanks, Moira.

I've been looking around, getting the lay of the land. It took me a little while to get an avatar set up since it's something I'd never done before. Just following the directions at the profile page and in my own picture editing program (to get a picture down to an acceptable size) and voila... a masterpiece. As I said in one of my other posts, I'll change it to something appropriate for a classic movie forum as soon as I can find one that I like.

I also like the fact that non-movie discussions have a home forum of their own. This was one of my pet peeves over at TCM. Of course, some of that was the fault of some posters letting themselves be carried away with their politics or their fascination with trash news.

Kudos to all responsible for this site.
