Any books on early Hollywood?

Post by HowardRoarkSheffield »

Does anyone know of any books on early Hollywood, around the time filmmakers moved from New York to California?

HRS,

Welcome to the boards! I love Kevin Brownlow's The Parade's Gone By, Cari Beauchamp's book on Francis Marion, Without Lying Down, John Bengston's trio of books on silent film locations, Kevin Brownlow's companion book to his wonderful Hollywood series and a book Cari Beauchamp edited, Adventures of a Hollywood Secretary: Her Private Letters from Inside the Studios of the 1920s are some of my favorites.

"Film is history. With every foot of film lost, we lose a link to our culture, to the world around us, to each other and to ourselves."

"For me, John Wayne has only become more impressive over time." Marty Scorsese
