Wendy, those shows I mentioned are still streaming on Netflix. The only exception is the original "Inspector Lewis" from about 2006. All the others are streaming. I hope you find one of those interesting.

I'll check them out, Chris, thanks for the info! Of course, nothing is going to beat Inspector Foyle.

Does it say more about me or Netflix that 18 of 54 discs in my queue are on a "very long wait"?

(No, I don't think they are picking on me personally, at least not yet.)

Sorry I haven't read this whole thread. What's the latest on Netflix discontinuing mail order? Is it official? What are your feelings on that?

I haven't seen any news of them discontinuing their mail service. I understand that is not their priority anymore. I wouldn't mind except that so many things that fit my preferences are still only available by disc. (There is plenty on my streaming list but some favorites aren't there yet.)

The big flap from two years ago was them splitting the streaming and mail service into two different companies. That lasted about two days. Everything in that sense stayed the same.

Thanks, MovieMan. That's pretty much what the guy at Netflix told me. But that's not exactly an unbiased source!

Jacks, acorntv.com has the whole 7 series of Foyles War. 30 day free trial, then 4.99 a month.

I've been looking at the selections on CLASSICFLIX' website. They have some pretty obscure stuff! At least, they let you search without joining. As far as I can tell, NETFLIX doesn't. That doesn't score any points with me.

You can check out what Netflix has available on streaming on www.instantwatcher.com. That's how we search for things to watch on netflix. You can search on there without being logged in as a user.

Thanks, Sandy. It's frustrating not to see what they have at Netflix since I had to quit using them. I'll check this out asap.

You are most welcome!

Some good classic titles on Netflix streaming right now: Sabrina, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, The Apartment, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Daddy Long Legs, The Long Hot Summer.

I recently watched The Magic Bow--a Gainesborough film starring Stewart Granger and Phyllis Calvert about Paganini from 1946. Interesting.

If anyone loves crazy British comedy then you might want to check out "The I.T. Crowd." Two nerdy computer guys work in a basement office and are supervised by a young woman who has her own brand of crazy but knows nothing about computers.

It might not be to everyone's taste but it's different and pretty crazy.

Streaming on Netflix.
