Starring Paul Muni, George Raft, Boris Karloff, the underrated Karen Morley, and the great Ann Dvorak is being released on DVD May 22. The Pacino filmof the same name doesn't touch the greatness of the Howard Hawks Directed, Ben Hecht Written gem. In fact I loathe the Pacino version, just as I do the DeNiro redo of Cape Fear. The DeNiro version of Night and the City is not bad, but it does not hold a candle to Dassin's classic

I've been waiting for that one for years. What makes it worse is that I believe a DVD has been available for a while now, but only as part of the $80 super deluxe extended special director's edition of the Pacino film.

Can Not wait. I also refuse to get the Pacino version. If I hear "Say Hello to My Little Friend" again. I think I'll shoot someone. The Pacino version doesn't hold a candle against the orginal. IMHO

I agree Ken! Scarface with Paul Muni was one of the first old movies that I had ever seen.
