It's a lovely film, full of great performers. Unfortunately the sequel didn't have as good a script.
I too love Judi's As Time Goes By.

I have seen The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and, PT, I would agree. It is slower and things don't quite gel as well as they do in the first. There are some very poignant moments with good lessons for life but it wasn't quite as compelling as the first.

Well, I've seen the original -- it took me a few tries to get through it -- and must admit I did not find the story/characters too engaging, although I did enjoy the cast who all did good work. In light of what you've shared about the sequel, I may pass it by. Thanks for the info, Movieman1957.
