Bringing Up Baby and The Awful Truth head my list. Twentieth Century with a fab ham performance by John Barrymore a close third. The last film is greatly aided by the perfomances of Walter Connally and Roscoe Karns as JB's much put upon assistants. The two gentlemen are of course Irish. Carole Lombard helps out, ALOT !

MY MAN GODFREY is my favorite, without a doubt.

I love this film beyond all reason. Each time I watch it I find new things to laugh about.

Both Carole Lombard and William Powell were positively brilliant...and the supporting cast all contributed greatly as well. Every single one of them had me laughing at one point or other, which is rare for a supporting cast.

What a great film!

My Man Godfey gets my vote every time! Like PKtrekgirl, my love for this film knows no bounds and would join me on that proverbial desert island.

^ Hey! Glad to see you here, MissG!

And of COURSE you love MY MAN GODFREY! I think we have already determined that we both have simply excellent taste. 8)

And yeah...it would go with me to the desert island too. Along with Ball of Fire. ;)

"Million Dollar Legs" gets my vote. It's more an absurdist piece than even a screwball comdey.

Angela: All the men in Klopstokia are named George, and all the women are named Angela.

Migg Tweeny: Why?

Angela: Why not?

* * * * * * *

Migg: Why, I bet if you laid all the great athletes in this country end to end, they'd stretch out . . .

Angela: 435 miles. We did it once.

* * * * * * *

Prez: Hey! Hey, you! (to Angela) What's the name of that boyfriend of yours?

Angela (blushing): Well . . . I call him "Sweetheart."

Prez: Hey! Sweetheart!!

Gets me every time.

Actually, that is my favorite desktop as well. I honestly have no idea how it came out so well! In fact, I prolly couldn't even recreate it!

But Coop sure is beautiful. BABY!

I really should post it here for anyone who is interested...

I'm sure everyone would be impressed, it was a work of art, and as you say, you had marvelous "material" to work with!

Well, there is that, isn't there?

That photo of him slouching in the chair is one of my favorites.

Maybe I should make a whole THREAD dedicated to Gary Cooper art! 8)

Lord knows I have enough of it!

That's what 'obsession' does.... :P

Obsession...

What I'd like to know is who isn't obsessed with Gary Cooper! My favorite
Gary films are Saratoga Trunk and For Whom The Bells Toll.

My favorite screwball comedies, though, are My Man Godfrey , Bringing Up Baby, and Adam's Rib.

Farewell, Amanda......

A thread dedicated to Gary Cooper artwork.......would finish me!! *thud*

He deserves a whole Metropolitan Museum as far as I'm concerned!!

John & Sue Sue: I love How to Marry a Millionaire. I recently loaned my copy out to a friend and she's enjoying it so much. Everyone I've shown it to likes it, in fact.

I wonder if the Stooges played the Betty Bacall, Betty Grable, and Marilyn roles in drag how HtMaM would have turned out.

I just could not resist being silly !

You know...I've been tossing around the idea of starting a thread for him here. Like at TCM. But I think I'd start it under 'The Essentials'.

I mean...that thread IS an institution, isn't it? :P

In the meantime, I made YET ANOTHER avatar of him last night while I was playing around with ideas for everyone else's avatars I was working on. I do that sometimes...work on a couple of things at once and when ideas hit me, play around with them using different photos.

Even in the midst of a sea of avatars, I simply CANNOT get away from him.

I'm utterly and hopelessly addicted.
