Hey. The United States Federal census for 1930 shows that she was born in 1930, and not in 1928.mongoII wrote:Thank you, ladies. I only found out today that she died last November. Thanks for the clarification
Marge. Also her date of birth is listed as 1928 on IMDb while other sources state it is 1930? Perhaps you can clear that up, Marge.
I enjoyed Ms. Lawrence as Linda Darnell's sister in "A Letter to Three Wives", "Margie" and "Oklahoma!".

"The picture of Irene Dunne today is a perfect looking example of how she was - unsmiling and something of a frosty gorgon.
Irene was kind of an 'iceburg'!!!!!"
I've tried to describe Irene Dunne myself but you hit the nail right on the head. She never seemed 'warm' to me. Even in scenes where she was supposedly wildly in love, she seemed kind of aloof and uninterested.
Moira: Yes fashion DID dictate a hat be worn at all times in public as well as gloves - either white or black to match the outfit, unless you had enough money to purchase gloves in various colors. The same dictates that said no White shoes or purse until after Memorial Day, and ending on Labor Day.
Remember however, there were no loose, fluffy hairstyles to be ruined by hats. Hair was worn very close to the head. Even if you look at a photo of Veronica Lake, known for her flowing blonde locks, her hair was styled close to her head. Ladies hats may look funny and/or odd today, but they were the epitome' of fashion back in the day.

Good analysis, Fossy.
Thanks for the info regarding Barbara Lawrence, Nick. I don't know where to go with this since her cousin confirmed that she was born in 1928? What to do?

Well, you could ask her if this is the correct 1940 census document:mongoII wrote:Good analysis, Fossy.

anything but that we were born in the same year only B in February and me in December. When she lived with us we went to
the same school in the same grade - my mother took us both to Bullock's Westwood for little new school outfits - when we went
to Hollywood Professional School we were in the same grade and graduating class, etc. etc. You could have fooled me. Just go with
the one that suits you I guess. hahahahahah You mean I was 17 when we graduated and she was only 15 . . . sigh.
In the 1940 thing you have up it shows Hazel as Barbara's mother. Bernice Eaton was Barbara's mother and was the first wife of
Barbara's father.

One of my favorite movies and a top Ronald Colman performance. A TALE OF TWO CITIES also presents one of the best evocations of the Christmas season, IMO.
