*CANDIDS*
Re: *CANDIDS*
Judith, we had a variety of glass top tables with an assortment of bases. When we went to the market in North Carolina there were showrooms with a wonderland of glass top tables.
I recall that my Aunt Julia, who was an immaculate housekeeper, had plastic covers on her furniture and in the warm weather I would stick to them.
Klondike, I don't believe that the end table William Holden hit his head on had a glass top.

Coop and Lupe certainly were a handsome couple. I suppose Gary's mother didn't like the look of Lupe.

I am crazy for Isabel Jewel! In Bombshell she played the "loose" girlfriend of Jean's no-good brother. At one point during the chaos, she says, " Hey, I'm gettin' sober; how 'bout you?" Oh, she was also in Go West Young Man with Mae and Gary Cooper (giving all of those great impersonations of Hollywood stars). She was always a delight!

Tough & twisted, if ya ask this Yankee farm boy!
I'd sooner shovel 'road apples' all afternoon than get my nose, let alone my tongue, anywhere near the inside of anybody's shoe!
Ah well, maybe the ambitious Mr. Barry considered it a worthwhile gambit if it got him any closer to that petroleated family tree!

Thanks for the heads-up on recognizing Isabel Jewell in Bombshell. You're right; her character was a hoot!

Hi,
Thanks so much Joe, for the photo of Verna Felton - she was beautiful - just look at that gorgeous face!!!
And James, I remember Isabel Jewel best as the little seamstress in "A Tale of Two Cities" and sharing her 'fate' with Ronald Colman. If you can come through those last scenes with her and Ronnie and not be weeping uncontrollably, then you have granite for a heart!!!
