Paulette Goddard was in England filming "The Ideal Husband". She was a great friend of Pamela Mason and I think she was godmother to one of the Mason children.
It was filmed in 1947 but premiered in 1948. It was at the premier that I first met Paulette and snuggled with her in her huge ermine coat!!
You can see the coat in the film.....

Silly me, I meant An Ideal Husband.
Do you know anything about Pamela Mason, Larry? I recently read his sister in law's biography of James and Pamela comes off the pages as an awful woman, that from her own sister.

Congratulations to Patricia Medina. #92. Way to go. Also, another favorite, Isabel Jewell.

Hi Alison,

Don't know much about Pamela Mason - never met any of the Mason clan, although James is one of my favourite actors...
I did know that she was quite a talker and was very vitriolic and acid tongued about several people. Someone once said she was vaccinated by a record needle!!!

I'm still mad at that trashy Emmy Slattery for "killing" Ellen Robillard O'Hara. I love this picture though! Was her husband a giant, or was she petite?

Hi,

I always cry at Isabel Jewel as the innocent seamstress going to the guillotine in "A Tale of Two Cities" with Ronald Colman holding her hand....
What a great performance...

And, I've written it before on here that I've always thought that Patricia Medina would have had a much better career if Hedy Lamarr, Vivien Leigh, Joan Bennett and Paulette Goddard had not existed.
She was every bit as beautiful.

People said my mother was vaccinated with a gramophone needle, which gives an idea about how old my mother is ad how good she is at talking.

James Mason is one of my favorite actors too, a consummate professional who cared about the end product and cared very little for many of his performances, he was highly critical of his own work. He loved Odd Man Out. Vitriolic is a word that fits well into the image of her from the book I read, it seems she started out OK but I guess to put it nicely, she loved Hollywood and everything it brought her and adopted the ways of the more two faced of the community.
