I believe we all agree on the dazzling Ann Sheridan. She was something else.

I did not know that Burgess Meredith (aka Penguin in the Batman Series) was married one time to Paulette Goddard. Interesting ... and I was surprised to see Burgess serving in the ARMY AIR CORPS too. Thanks for posting it Joe.

Hey, Joe -- I have a copy of "The Bad Seed" that I watch frequently. Little Patty McC is just amazing. I think she was 9 years old when she made the movie. She had played the part on Broadway beginning at just 7 years old. It's remarkable. I think she gave one of the most self-possessed, solid, and scary, performances on film.

A comment about Paulette Goddard: her marriage to Burgess Meredith was brief but ended amicably. I don't remember now -- did she leave him for Lew Ayres at this time? Nevertheless, in his memoirs, Meredith has nothing but nice things to say about her.

And one more thing -- Goddard looks so pretty. I was just thinking as I looked at this photo that she came from Brooklyn, and I'm remembering a dozen or more women I've been acquainted with here in Bklyn over the years who looked just like her. Common ancestors? Something in the fluoridated water? In any event, something they probably never complained about -- I certainly wouldn't mind looking like that.

As usual thanks for your interesting comments, Judith. Patty McCormack was indeed
outstanding as Rhoda in "The Bad Seed" and should have won the Oscar.
Paulette Goddard was a beautiful woman. Our comrade Larry cam tell you a thing or two about his pal. They use to go for banana splits together. A lovely woman indeed.

Thanks for the photo of Diana Sands, an actress not well remembered these days.

I saw her in a Broadway play almost 50 years ago, and have never forgotten it. She was one of those performers who have that intangible stage presence that makes you focus all of your attention on her and forget about everyone else around her. It was amazing. She made me want to see more plays so that I could experience that feeling. She left us at far too young an age.
