Jeanne Craine was a truly beautiful lady wasn't she?
I heard today on one of the daily talk shows that out of all the people that Shirley Temple worked with, Bojangles was the nicest to her and he was the one person she trusted the most. Wonderful testimony.

Re: *CANDIDS*
The song Mr Bojangles is about Bojangles Robinson isn't it? It makes me tear up when I hear Sammy Davis Jnr sing it.
Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself - Charlie Chaplin

Anne, your so right about Jeanne Crain, she was a beauty indeed. I was watching the same talk show when that statement was made about Bill Robinson, truly a nice guy.
Alison, I believe that song Mr. Bojangles is about Bill. I read that he died penniless and that Ed Sullivan paid for his funeral arrangements. Sad.

Surprisingly, no. Written by Jerry Jeff Walker, he said it was about a homeless white man he met in jail (Walker was in for public intoxication; the homeless guy called himself "Mr. Bojangles" and was in for, in effect, being homeless) who started talking about his dog. The story was so sad that he started to dance to lighten the mood. The song Mr Bojangles is about Bojangles Robinson isn't it?
