Moira, I also enjoyed Hymer and MacMahon in "One Way Passage". It is a shame the turn that his life took.

. . . And of course Warren Hymer appeared in UP THE RIVER, opposite Spencer Tracy and Humphrey Bogart - not to mention directed by John Ford, with Ford protege Ward Bond in a bit.

That set musta been a hoot!

I first saw Joan Bennett in the movie Mississippi(1935). She portrayed a young girl of about sixteen. (actually she was 25 and this was her seventeenth movie). She was always pretty, but as a brunette she became beautiful.

Duke and Darby look friendly enough in that great candid photo, but apparently they did not get along too well during the filming of TRUE GRIT. Kim apparently did not much warm to Wayne and neither was Duke too impressed with her prima donna behavior. But both were clearly fine actors as that offset animosity certainly did not translate to their scenes together.

It looks like prima donna Kim Darby didn't amount to much after "True Grit" in which she was impressive.
