Hi, Judith, from one of the older new members (or is that newer old?).
Anyone who loves Stan has got to be a lot of fun to know. Will be looking forward to your posts.
And, by the way, you're not alone. Before I checked the caption, I, too was sure it was Sir Paul.

Hi Joe,

That's the nicest picture of Mae West I've ever seen. Lovely smile...

"Goodness, what lovely diamonds".
"Goodness had nothing to do with it!!"....

And, Stone:
I'm sure you'll know George Raft's famous line about their movie, "Night After Night" - -
"She stole everything but the camera!"....

Larry

Of course, Larry - and Georgie had no one to blame but himself since it was on his recommendation that Mae got the role of Maudie rather than Texas Guinan.

And I definitely agree with you about that being probably the nicest picture of Miss West. She's really a knockout in that shot.

I just heard from Judith, she is NOT ignoring us, her account was "de-activated", so she can't log in. She is waiting to hear from an admin so she can rejoin the silliness. She specifically asked me to post this to let everyone know she is waiting.

Hi all. With Nancy and Moira's help, technology has turned, for the time being, from foe to friend.

Thank you all for your warm wishes. It's be a very difficult last year or two. Because of my daughter's increasingly bad health, I decided to take early retirement so that I could be home with her and help her to cope. Living with illness and without healthcare coverage is as harrowing as it is debilitating.

But now, thanks to those recent and highly publicized changes in legislation, she's been able to get health insurance coverage and is in a lot better place than she was a year ago, although she's still in no condition to work and may never be. In any event, her improvement puts more free time on my hands and I'm happy to be among classic movie lovers once more.

And, I wish to go on record as saying that Retirement is wonderful. I love the freedom and lack of workplace stress. I recommend it to everyone -- the sooner the better.

Glad to hear that your daughter is doing better, Judith. I trust that you will enjoy going through the boards again especially with all the interesting subjects, including our special guest authors.
By the way, I have been retired for a while and it is a good thing.

Ah, Joe -- Grant Williams. Wasn't he pretty? I don't know what kind of an actor he really was -- he was generally the handsome boyfriend in the background, or the young solider who gets it early in the action. He did a lot of TV as well, but we never really got to see what he could do, except in "The Incredible Shrinking Man," which is one of my all-time favorite movies. He wasn't exactly Oscar-worthy in it, but he wasn't at all bad.

Grant Williams could also effectively play a despicable villain. Check him out as the Western gunman in RED SUNDOWN and the psychopath in THE COUCH.

But sadly his career never went as far as it should have.
