Re: *CANDIDS*
In looking at the two birthday boys, Sam Levene and Charles Boyer, it strikes me that their personalities couldn't be further removed from each other....Levene - open, and expansive; and Boyer - closed off, remote, mysterious. So much for horoscopes.....
I still love both of them.

Re: *CANDIDS*
I just looked up Nancy Kulp's bio on IMDb. It says this:
Early in her acting career, one Hollywood gossip sheet named her "the homeliest girl on television", referring to her role as "Pamela Livingstone" on Robert Cummings's series
Hmmm -- I think the photo above says otherwise. It's all down to the Magic of Hollywood.

My heart is pounding. Joel McCrea has to have had the best looking body ever...... thump thump.......
Re: *CANDIDS*
Then you'll want to try 'n catch up with The Most Dangerous Game; for that decade in his career, it's probably a toss-up whether TMDG or Bird of Paradise was the most athletic of his roles, but I've always felt that the former showed him off better, physically speaking (not to mention a much more intelligent script).JackFavell wrote:My heart is pounding. Re: *CANDIDS*
Thanks. I had it recorded but discovered that my recording only got the first 5 minutes of the movie. I hope they show it again. Then you'll want to try 'n catch up with The Most Dangerous Game; for that decade in his career, it's probably a toss-up whether TMDG or Bird of Paradise was the most athletic of his roles, but I've always felt that the former showed him off better, physically speaking (not to mention a much more intelligent script)..

Judith,
I had the same thoughts about Nancy Kulp's photo - she was really lovely, in a way. I guess it was her acting, her voice, and the fact that they practically dressed her in cardboard that made her character what it was.

How drolly coy (and absolutely fitting) a marker for Jack Lemmon.
It seems to capture perfectly his puckish, gentle, worldly-but-never-jaded personna, a man quietly grateful to be pursuing his chosen profession, and expressing it in a way that always made us feel so lucky to be watching.

My sentiments exactly, I just showed Jack's gravestone to my husband, he's one performer who makes us both smile.
Still didn't need to see so much of him in Avanti to appreciate how good he is
