Interview with 99 Year Old Luise Rainer

Post by MissGoddess »

An interesting chat with the two-time Oscar
winner (who says she won't be watching Sunday night---neither
will I, Luise!).

Enjoy!

What a fine mind and even more resonant spirit Luise Rainer exhibits in that interview. And she had the chance to tell both Louis B. Mayer and Bertolt Brecht where they could get off! Thank you for posting that link. She sounds like the kind of person it would be a pleasure to talk with for days, if not weeks.

God Bless her. She still looks great. I couldn't agree more about the Oscars being BORING... Shame she was so unhappy with her first husband, the writer Clifford Odets.
Thanks Miss G.

Wonderful article, April. I for one feel that Luise Rainer gave an exceptional performance as Olan in "The Good Earth" and deserved her Oscar. Everytime I watch the movie I'm mesmerized by her.
She is chock full of good recollections and should write a book.

Wow, really Fernando? You should think about sending her a letter
and telling her so. I bet she'd be immensely flattered.

Well, I did.... back in the very early 1980s -circa 1981- I sent letters to many of the Golden Era's stars; dear Luise and dear Lillian Gish were the only two actresses who replied to me sending me beautifully dedicated photographs. I was 14 years old and I was SO happy.... :D :D

Bette Davis also sent to me a signed still.... :D
