Ms.G, I'm not sure I took/found it from Google as "Clark Gable Cartoon" I love the way Warner Brothers lampooned stars of the silver screen.

That may be the one where Bugs Bunny thinks he is getting an Oscar. Not sure though.

Ha! Love those cartoons with the Hollywood stars, they were the best.

(Sorry about the racial stereotypes herein; after this feature, check out some of the other "star cartoon" options that appear at bottom of embed! The "Step Out" one's particularly good!)

That was so cool, Klondike! I'm not sure if I ever saw that one before! Wallace Beery as "little boy blue" was hilarious.

Esther Howard, Margaret Wycherly & Lucile Watson.

John Turturro
Steve Buscemi
John Cazale (only 5 feature films -- gone, but never forgotten)

For those keeping score, that's three Italian Americans, two from Brooklyn.

Judith: Toss in Lawrence Tierney and Timothy Carey and would it then be fair to say that every great actor from Brooklyn is a character?

Yes, I think that's true, as far as the great ones are concerned. I keep telling you -- it's the drinking water.

Good morning all,

Wow! I'm simply amazed at the number(and quality) of responses this thread generated (and continues to generate) and the diversity of the actors named. When I said at the outset that It was difficult to limit my choices to 10, I wasn't wrong. The lists that you've provided prove me right. Some of the choices though were people that I would have thought of as leading actors and actresses. But I guess that's why they make vanilla and chocolate, so I really can't argue with anyone's selections. I'm just glad that it generated the replies it has. Keep 'em coming!

As always,

Hollis

Someone mentioned my fave guy Charlie Ruggles. What about Roland Young?
I love James Gleason (sometimes seen with wife Lucille) although he always seems to play the same type of charactor. Whereas Thomas Mitchell is very chameleon like, playing a wide variety of charactors.

Eve Arden has been mentioned....she always reminded me of a female Vincent Price. They resemble each other in manner & stature and pretty much have similar speaking styles. Mmm, never seen them both in the same scene! :?

Just watched THE EXPLOSIVE GENERATION (1961), a gem about swinging, Seniors, Schlitz and SEX (education) in high school, with a marvelous cast of William Shatner (righteous and lovable teacher, who the guys dig and for whom the gals swoon: "Those kids are our future."), Patty McCormack (a good girl, not a bad seed, tempted by -- you know -- s-e-x), Billy Gray (a real bud with a nose for trouble), and Beau Bridges (looking like a young Beau Bridges). Why post this here?

Every high school must have a stern, but sympathetic, authority figure under intense pressure as Principal, and The Man was in this one: Edward Platt.

Unfortunately, Whit Bissell apparently was not available as the chemistry teacher.
