The child who plays "Nando" is an absolute delight. Clark Gable seems to really enjoy this movie, but then who wouldn't enjoy being around Sophia Loren AND Naples????
I didn't read the word "Naples" right. Almost fell off my chair....

Hi Miss Favell, I'm glad you did more than just lurk!
CCFan I too recommend It Started in Naples---the courtroom scene with Vittorio de Sica is hilarious.
Ollie---Teacher's Pet is oneo f my favorites, and I've seen it at least twenty times if not more. It's
a funny comedy but the scene at the end between Gable and the the young man who wants to
be a newsman (but his mother wants him to go to school) is among Gable's best anywhere. I've read that
CG felt uncomfortable about his lack of education and so I can imagine he may have channelled some of
his own frustration into that dialogue.
I just think Clark's one of the most "huggable" actors ever. I don't know why, but everytime I see him
I want to run up and give him a hug! It must be something like that which made Myrna compare him
to a "bear" in Test Pilot. He is! A great big bear!

My favorite of his is, After Office Hours with Constance Bennett. I just love the way he schmoozes her mother, played by Billie Burke.
I also liked the way he played Nick, the laundryman, in The Easiest Way because his character relents and forgives in the end.
Of course, he was wonderful in GWTW, but it's not a favorite movie of mine in general.

Re: Clark Gable
I remember seeing Red Dust when I was 18, I thought he was one of the sexiest men I'd ever seen. I think that was about the time I start going off modern movies and movie actors in general and started discovering that the men of the 30's and 40's were much more to my liking.
After seeing Red Dust I had to wait ages before the television played anymore Clark Gable movies, the next was Teacher's Pet, an older Gable but he still had it. Then was The Misfits, a great performer, didn't really notice the other actors apart from Marilyn. Then I saw GWTW for the first time.
Since DVDs have become cheaper and available for rental I've seen lots more of Mr Gable and he has never ever dissappointed.
I've put It Started in Naples on my to buy list
