Always wondered about that nickname "Butch". Doesn't seem to fit the suave and elegant Mr. Romero. Now had it been Bruce Cabot . . .
Miss Lombard also was responsible for George Raft pal Mack Gray's nickname "Killer". Apparently it had to do with Gray's hernia operation - the Yiddish term for which was killa. Ever the practical joker, when Lombard would come to visit Mack in the hospital, she'd ask to see "the killer", which raised more than a few eyebrows among the staff.
