While on leave from the US Coast Guard, birthday boy Madison was “discovered” and got a bit part in Shirley Temple’s film "Since You Went Away". MGM received so much fan mail about Guy Madison that they built him up in the press (including sending him out on dates with Shirley Temple) and starred him - after he got out of the service - in his next movie "Till The End of Time" with Dorothy McGuire.
