So did Louis B. Mayer, who commented: "A nice Jewish girl like Norma shouldn't go out with a roughneck like that." Rumor has it that it was Mayer who put the kibosh on co-starring Norma and George in a remake of A FREE SOUL.

Anyhoo, the relationship was the one of the three serious Raft romances where he didn't actively pursue marriage. But he was close to a father image to Norma's two children during the time he and Miss Shearer were a couple. Try to picture George Raft building sand castles on the beach with Norma's little daughter.

Nice start, Joe and I will visit it everyday and may not post at all ... but look at the pictures that you selected here thanks for starting up a new CANDIDS thread.

I won't be posting that much anymore to reflect my Rita Collection and I have already sold 28 photos yesterday and I'm taking the time off to reflect and I hope to resume posting pictures in a month from now.

Far from the blonde bombshell she later portrayed on film, birthday gal Brigitte Bardot was a demure brunette when she said “I do,” to her film director husband Roger Vadim in 1952

Erik, funny story regarding DeNiro. Apparently when he was preparing for his role as Travis Bickle for TAXI DRIVER he got back behind the wheel of a cab and one night happened to pick up as a fare a fellow with whom he had studied acting. The fellow recognized DeNiro and asked what he was doing driving a cab. DeNiro replied that he was doing research for his upcoming movie. Even though DeNiro was an Academy Award winner and established actor, the fellow said warily, "Yeah, I know, Bobby. I've been there."
