A good companion piece might be Blood and Roses (1960), which I consider perhaps the most beautiful vampire movie ever made:

I actually have a widescreen print of the French version, which is quite different from what was shown in the U.S. upon the film's release.

Our friend Svengoolie is promoting DRACULA, the big one, as this week's feature. Not daughter of same. Is this a change of plans? Not sure.

Dracula's offspring is the centerpiece of next week's Svengoolie show on April 21st. I hope your connection to this quirky channel is okay, Red. I'd love to read your take on both father and daughter!

We lost TWILIGHT ZONE last night. That's not encouraging.

Strange. The signal for the movie was terrible. The breaks were fine. I understand it's an 80 year-old movie. But what's the difference? A signal is a signal. Right? I don't care all that much about the movie. I just wanted to participate in this discussion. And next week is DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. I haven't seen that in a long time.

I should probably step back from this thread. I don't want to keep breathing air into it when I'm not able to watch the show. The technical problem seems to be worse with this program than most of the others.

Weird - I tuned in Svengoolie on METV in the SF Bay area, and the lead in commercial was for DRACULA, but the movie they played was THE OFFERING. The local program schedule had DRACULA listed, so not sure what the deal was.I turned off the channel. REDRIVER - are you on the East Coast? Maybe THE OFFERING was substituted here because there was technical difficulties with DRACULA?

Here in Upstate New York, it was Dracula (1931) that was shown--though the host did say that the airing was a one-time only event due to contractual issues. How strange, though Me-TV must be distributed differently in various markets.

My Cable Provider do carry ME TV and because of my Television Set and all ... I have trouble watching it because the Sound and Picture is downright horrible and there is nothing that they can't do about it. So, I don't watch it at all.

Clearly, this well meaning channel has multiple issues! Some days, some hours, are better than others. It's a pity. It has, by far, the best programming on TV!

I emailed ME TV about my technical issues. They responded promptly and professionally. They are working with the cable provider on the problem. Reception this week has been much better. Does that mean I'll spend Saturday evening with DRACULA'S DAUGHTER? I promise I'll be a perfect gentleman! This will be a good test of the work being done. This program is the one that suffers the most.

I haven't seen this Universal entry in a long, long time. Hopefully, that will be remedied tonight. DRACULA'S DAUGHTER. 9:00 CST.

I hope so. I've been waiting to talk about this film for days and days now! Moira, will you be tuning in?

I guess I'll tune in for a bit tonight.

Hooray for technology! The picture was just fine. I liked this slightly silly, but respectful vampire story. Not one of Universal's great ones, but fun. Good relationships, especially the psychiatrist and his secretary, my favorite character. As a fan of SABOTEUR, it's hard to accept Otto Kruger as the hero. He's such a Wee-Wee in the Hitchcock film!

Gloria Holden is good as "Vampirella." She's not a bad person. She just happens to be a monster! Interesting that we have VON Helsing in this movie. Usually it's VAN. Svengoolie's jokes and songs, while making for a long evening, were funny.

All in all, an enjoyable date with the undead!

guess it all depends on your sense of humor. I just wanted him to shut up and run the movie.....Obviously, Svengoolie is not my kind of guy. Really liked the movie, tho....

What's great is that they're showing GOOD horror films again. Most of us remember when that was the norm. CREATURE FEATURE, TALES FROM THE TOMB, etc. Since Elvira (Mistress of the Dark), that type of format has leaned toward REALLY bad movies. The only attraction being the ridicule. I always said, Do the shtick. Have fun with it. But show the classics. For the time being, that seems to be happening!

Next week: THIS ISLAND EARTH!
