I know you loathe being quoted, but I have to ask what you meant with your response of The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a response to "Man vs nature". Given your following sort-of comment, are you saying you picked this movie because Laughton was also in Mutiny on the Bounty?

anyway

OMG, is that the impression I have given. I LOVE being quoted. I don't like being quoted in FIRST ACTOR/ACTRESS COMES TO MIND and FIRST FILM COME TO MIND , just those two. The reason being as I explained, the two threads are frivolous in comparison the more substantive threads where discussions take place. When I see a notification, a brief wonderment of anticipation ensues and I am disappointed it's just a clue from a Games thread. What a let down! Plus, it was not done at TCM and I don't know who started over here, but is a damn bother!

But I have always looked forward to being quoted on all other threads, please and thank you on that. (what a horrible misunderstanding!)

I will add a note in the SIGNATURE to try to clear this up. I am so glad you mentioned this, Lawrence.

As to the clue, it's big boo boo on my part. I meant to answer THE MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, obviously since Bligh is adrift at sea in that one. It's a Man v. Nature thing and I can recall, as a sidebar here, when land was sighted Bligh says, "I have conquered the sea." (in the '35 version, at least.).

Oh okay. That makes sense, then. I didn't know if you were getting deep with the Hunchback mention, as if to say it was about man struggling against human nature or something.

And I knew (or assumed) that your dislike of the quoting function only applied to the game threads.

And now to continue on:

dismal failure = League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
