The main character in this film is holding a sparkler in the final scene.
Today's hint:

Director won an Oscar (for another film) not long after he made this film.

I was waiting for someone to notice that the responding poster did not wait for the customary formality of my confirmation. But yes, A Taste of Honey is correct. The film ends with Rita Tushingham holding a sparkler as "The Big Ship Sails on the Alley-Alley-O..." is sung, as it was over the opening credits. Tony Richardson won an Oscar for Best Director two years later, for Tom Jones.
