Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner
The holidays draw to a close, and this makes me sad every year. But, it's time to change our friends at the top of the page. For the time being, I have put back up the first banner I made. When I have time I am going to make a few more and start that randomizing I mentioned, but that might be a little while. So enjoy Grace, Cary, and the gang in their encore appearance.
As usual, refresh the page while holding down shift or clear your cache to see the new banner.

Thanks to Professional Tourist for our current Thanksgiving banner. There are two more to get to as well!

Sweet! Can we have a banner for Christmas featuring John Payne, Maureen, and Natalie from Miracle on 34th Street?

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner
Thanks, Moira and Sue Sue.
I'll see if I can find a suitable image that could be sized correctly for the banner, and if so, will send to Lomm.

Well, I've submitted one Christmas banner to Lomm that does include a shot from Miracle on 34th Street, but it's just a small image among a few others and the three actors you've requested are not included.Sue Sue Applegate wrote:Sweet! This new banner for Thanksgiving week is delightfully daffy. Thanks, Lomm and anyone else involved in its preparation.

Oooh, very nice new banner, Lomm! North by Northwest -- it almost jumps off the screen!

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner
This image, sleekly styled by our invaluable Lomm for our banner, shows Alan Napier in Tarzan's Magic Fountain (1949). The original image comes our way from our generous guest author this weekend, James Bigwood, who has edited, annotated and shepherded the publication of the delightful and touching Not Just Batman's Butler: The Autobiography of Alan Napier (McFarland) to the light of day.Lomm wrote:The pic is courtesy of Moira.
The film shown in the banner marked the first film in which Lex Barker took over the role of Lord Greystoke aka Tarzan from Johnny Weismuller, and is generally rated among the best of the later series. A DVD of this RKO movie is available from the Warner Archive.

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner
Today's banner, here from the collection of James Bigwood, features a raffish looking Alan Napier as he appeared in Double Crossbones (1951), a musical adventure film starring Donald O'Connor. As Mr. Bigwood wrote in the original caption, "Alan as Captain Kidd in Double Crossbones (Universal, 1951). Unfortunately, the role does not live up to the promise of the publicity still."

Re: Vote for Your Favorite Film Figures for the Banner
I love this final banner of Alan Napier as Alfred Pennyworth, the iconic butler (or factotum, as the actor saw him) from Batman. This was created entirely by our talented tech master, Lomm! Thanks for everything, L.
