The Groundhog Day banner is courtesy of Professional Tourist. Even though it's a few days early it was too good to wait. We'll have a Groundhog weekend!

The immortal Cecil B. DeMille is our current banner figure (I don't know who the other two guys are). The quote is from him as well.

I like the upward perspective in the photo, Lomm. It might be from his film "The Greatest Show on Earth" (1952). DeMille's 'Ten Commandments' (the second one) is still one of my all-time favorites.

Today's new banner and quote are tribute to director
Luis Buñuel. Since this director was not so photogenic, an iconic scene from one of his films was selected.
Can anyone guess the film?

Good ol' VIRIDIANA (1961). Senor Bunuel always had something nice to say about religion. Maybe the quote should have been "I'm an atheist, thank God."

The current banner in the great directors series features
Vincente Minnelli behind the scenes of
Lust for Life. Since this golden age director loved to work with color, and owing to the film depicted, the titles were colored, selecting from the Van Gogh painting
Vase with Red Poppies:
Thanks to Lomm for selecting this banner.

I left that one up a long time!

Up next, Billy Wilder, accompanied by the incomparable Marilyn (and the back of Tom Ewell's head). Thanks again to Professional Tourist for the banner. One or two more director banners before we give them a rest for a while and get back to the stars of the screen again. Also thanks to Masha for the idea!

And now, George Cukor. I may not have mentioned this before, but besides making most of these banners, Professional Tourist has supplied all the quotes from these classic directors as well that we've been using, today's included.

Beautifully done, both of you! Capucine + Cukor should have equaled elegant cinema based on those distinctive profiles alone (too bad Song Without End could not have been a bit better).
