That's Entertainment! sequences

Post by Ayres »

Is there, anywhere online or in a book, a list of all clips used in That's Entertainment! (1974)

?

Ayres, have you checked the imdb?

I have an old book that is titled "Vocal Selections from That's Entertainment!". It doesn't have all the songs, but I could check it and list the films that are contained in it...

Other than that, maybe the thing to do is watch the dvd and jot down the films.

Awesome job Moraldo!! Impressive.

BTW, the following clip: unknown 1930's smoking clip w/"blonde"from the Gable segment, features Natalie Moorhead and Gable in a scene taken from the 1931 movie "Dance, Fools, Dance". You know, since I was kid I'd been so intrigued by the identity of the actress in this clip.....not until I watched "The Thin Man", could I identify Mrs. Moorhead. She looks super-sophisticated in this scene.

Thanks Fernando! It took a couple of nights of hitting play/pause to get that done. And thank you for filling in one of the blanks! Can you fill in the other Gable blank? The clip looks so familiar; I'm afraid I'll kick myself when the answer becomes apparent. Teacher's Pet maybe?

It's nothing Moraldo, you did the big job here! I just contributed with a grain of sand.

I don't think that clip is from "Teacher's Pet" (Paramount-1958), because all the clips seem to be taken only from MGM films. I'll try to check it.

And that, Gentlemen, is why I stick to the umbrella concession at the back door!

I'm quite sure I solved the mystery Moraldo. I'm really certain that the smoking clip in which you can see gambling/roulette tables from a casino of sorts is from the 1949 film "Any Number Can Play".

That's great, Fernando. With that information we can close the Gable case. I don't remember ever hearing of Any Number Can Play. Perhaps I should suggest it over at TCM. Now I just have to delineate all of those Esther Williams clips. July will tell...

Hi Moraldo!

I played the DVD again today to check Esther's segment.

I think the first cuts from the Esther Williams segment are from "Bathing Beauty". I also think that the segment with Ricardo Montalbán is from "Neptune's Daughter" and that the scene with Jimmy Durante is from "This Time for Keeps". Then, I saw segments from "Bathing Beauty", "Z. Follies" and "Million Dollar Mermaid".

Regards,

Fernando
