10 classics that should be downgraded

Post by Bogie »

Here's an article I found on MSN. I dunno, a couple of these 10 greatest classics that need to be downgraded seem a little surprising as I didn't think of them as all that paramount in the world of moviedom but here's the article

http://movies.msn.com/movies/moviesfeat ... ?GT1=28002

Here's the list from 10 to 1

10. Love Story
9. Arsenic and Old Lace
8. All the King's Men
7. Guess who's coming to dinner
6. Gentleman's agreement (personally never seen that one)
5. The Seven Year Itch
4. The Ten Commandments
3. Easy Rider
2. Giant
1. Gone With The Wind

You guys can hash it out. I'll be back later with my thoughts.[/url]

None of these are my personal favourites. To me, Gone with the Wind is a bit too soapy. I can understand why it is a popular classic, though.

I agree with you Bogie, I didn't think all of them were paramount enough to be downgraded. Arsenic and Old Lace, for instance, is just a pretty entertaining film. What's wrong with it? I can understand if people don't want to put it in the same league as Gone With the Wind or Casablanca, didn't think it was such a big classic.

I never considered Love Story, The Seven Year Itch, Guess who's coming to dinner, or Easy Rider classics by any stretch!
