Knitty,
Glad to hear you are ok. My heart goes out to those poor people in MO. We have had spotty storms here and some straight line winds. A stom that seemed small at my house today dropped some trees in a town east of here.

A couple of weeks ago, my mom and dad were in a parking lot and hail broke out the back window of their van. Two of the grandkids were in the middle seat and I guess they bailed over into Grandma and Grandad's laps when the glass started breaking! Luckily, no one was hurt but the kids are a little scared of storms now.

Stay safe, everyone.

Read or heard that one person was killed over the weekend due to hail breaking out the windshield of the car they were driving. If in doubt....TAKE SHELTER!!!!

Glad there were no injuries to your nieces/nephews, Birdy.

Knitty & Others

I'm been playing catch up on the other threads ... this my 2nd one of the day and I have been watching the news on this and I'm amazed the amount of crazy weather all across the Mid-West and especially where you live in MO. The largest hail that I ever seen in Washington is 3 times bigger than a PEA. I heard weather reports saying golf balls sized hail - even tennis size hail ... and tornadoes, winds, and everything else in between.

I will be thinking of all of you and be safe and take SHELTER ... I can't believe people driving in hailstorms, tornadoes, and wicked winds ... It's brutal :!:

Take Care all the brave Members out there :!:

One couple who decided to 'out-drive' the tornado, turned a corner and a truck was blown into the side of their vehicle. Miraculously, they escaped unhurt. I said it before: when in doubt, TAKE SHELTER.

I have seen hail as described but these hurricanes are something else. With the approach of winter temperatures here have dropped to 12 deg overnight, (about 53F) which is a bit cooler than average and pleasant sunny days about 26 deg. (about 79F). Winter is definitely the best time of year in Cairns.

Nancy, I hope you are OK, I only just realised what bad weather you are having. Do take your advice and take shelter.

Thanks, Alison, I get my 'go' bag ready in March, and pay close attention to the weather all spring and summer.

Word of advice to my Cousin Nancy -
If you think you see Margaret Hamilton going by your house on a bicycle, don't walk out your front door for a better look! :x
