This is what happened to the ice cream truck on my street. It's still warbling "Pop Goes the Weasel", though.

most of what I saw today is field corn, and it's already tasseled, so it's coming right along. I don't think it gets as tall as regular corn, this is grown for feed. The Farmer's Market had lots of corn today, tomatoes, green beans, yellow squash, zucchini, peaches. yum!

The weather here, just outside of Chicago has been utterly ridiculous - - One day it's unbreathable, and the next you better bring your umbrella with you wherever you go. When people learn how I hate Chicago weather, yet it was so hot in Vegas, this is the kind of weather I use for an example of why I prefer Vegas. In Vegas, even at 95 degrees, stand in the shade of a building or tree, and you can feel the coolness of the sun being restricted and you can breathe and inhale comfortably, but here, shade covers the sun, but the humidity is still all around and cutting off your air supply. Although I understand with all the lawns, and water displays now in town, the humidity factor is higher than it was when I was there.

If I don't do anything during the day - just watch TV, I can do fine with just fans in each room, but by about 6:00 p.m., the sun has been burning into the living room and kitchen all day, even with the thickest of blinds to hold out the sun, but then I have to turn on the AC because along with the heat comes the humidity. I can't imagine what the people who have had no electricity for the past 10 days or so are managing. Com-Ed is working to fix it, but they can't seem to catch up.

Anne, I understand a few miles to the south here. Hot, hot, hot. I would say 'hot as hell', but that implies a lack of moisture, which we do not have. When it is this humid, you can't keep it out. For people with no AC, it is the same temperature and air quality inside as out. Temps around 90 are easier to manage so we're hoping for a break in the next couple of days.

The only thing to do is to stay wet...in a pool!!

We are going to have weather like this through the weekend. It is going to feel like 105 today and worse tomorrow. If the heat and the humidity weren't bad enough there is no wind. A good day to have an inside job.

I was visiting my sister in Texas during this past Christmas 2010. There was one of the worst blizzards in NYC's history, much less the Northeast coast of the United States.

I'll take this heat any day.

These extremes in both summer and winter is…interesting. Wouldn't be so bad except spring and fall seem to be a whole lot shorter.

Now that seems true. It changes in a hurry. Last Friday and Saturday we had great weather. Spent several hours with friends on their deck enjoying their company. Today I don't want to walk to the car unless I absolutely have to. And I will at 6:00.
