It's been a chilly spring here in northeast Ohio, too. Supposed to warm up in a few days. The trees are blooming, though and look so beautiful.

I keep putting my new annual plants outside during the day and bringing them in at night. We have had 50's and even some 60 degree days, but then at night it's been going down to 36 to 40 which is way too cold. One night a couple weeks ago it was 56 at night and I couldn't sleep it felkt so hot, but now i wish it were like that every night so I could keep the blasted plants outside or plant them in the ground.

Since Kansas City Ks & Kansas City MO are separated by the Kaw River, where it then flows into the Missouri River, Donald might need his waders later this spring.

Oh golly, Fossy, take care of yourself! Is your home right out there at the edge of the water? Does it make a difference whether you are on the water or further inland? I see that Cairns is pretty exposed there on the shore. I barely even know what a tropical cyclone is or what kind of preparations one should make for it.

It is expected that the tropical low will become a category 1 cyclone by 4:00pm today (Tues). Although the satellite picture shows it heading for Cairns, the forecast is that it will veer north, away from Cairns. We will probably get heavy rain from it. I do not live on the coast, perhaps 3km inland and about 12 km south of the CBD.

Keep us informed if you can! I will be thinking of you, Fossy, and hoping the storm veers away so you miss any damage or power outages.

Tropical cyclone Zane has intensified to category 2, and is expected to intensify further to category 3 in the next couple of hours. The cyclone has stopped traveling southward and has now turned west. It is expected to veer north, and weaken to category 2 before landfall at 4:00am tomorrow (Thursday). Cairns will not even notice it.

The cyclone has now fizzled out and will cross the coast as a tropical low. Wind speed has dropped to 85 kph. It is well north of Cairns and is expected to cross the coast this afternoon (Thursday).

Thanks for the update, Fossy. I hope the rest of this cyclone season turns into a gentle rain where needed. Take care.

Tell us all about the guided tour! What did you see?

I have fond memories of the magic shop in the Sherman House, and of the Museum of Science and Industry, which was our class trip every year, because we always chose to go there. Which will tell you how old I was when I was last in Chicago....
