I was thinking the same thing and trying to remember the special celebrations for the new century. I know I didn't "party like it was 1999." Now we're into the second decade of the twenty-first century! Happy New Year to all. As Benjamin Franklin said "May every New Year find you a better man." We can interpret that wish on so many levels, n'est-ce pas?
Just a note -- we had discussed this issue once before: I've noticed that all this past week every radio announcer I've heard has been saying "twenty-ten," and not "two thousand ten." Finally. I was wondering if we'd ever get rid of that unnecessarily complicated terminology. If they say it on the radio and on TV this week (and they are saying it on TV as well), the entire populace will be saying it by next Wednesday.
