Hey there Hollis -
Below is about two and a half minutes (NO SOUND) of the Allman Bros at the Fillmore East, March 11 - 13, 1971. Have fun with it!

Bonus for Hollis:
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. It may or may not be from Fillmore East, March 1971. Could be; you tell me!

Great to hear from Mr. Ark on the Brothers, too!! Apropos to that, I'd like to include a video that Mr. A turned me on to not long ago, and one that Hollis might like as well: Eric Johnson / The Cliffs of Dover. (Thanks again for that!)

Take care -- Dewey

Here's something a little different. What we have here is drummer Bill Bruford probably best known for playing with the progressive rock group Yes, giving a drum clinic and playing his 1978 instumental Hells Bells from the album Feels Good To Me.

Notice how the keyboard riff that begins the song starts out in a very tight 4/4, but when Bruford kicks in on the drums, he changes the time to 5/4 (by playing in 3/8 time) creating a massive swing groove. Also, notice how loose he is on the kit. This looks very relaxed and effortless (it's not).

Ok, it's not a Christmas song, but one of my cats just died young, so I was in the mood for the Christopher Cross song "Think of Laura."

This is one of the most amazing versions of this tune I've ever heard. Crosses voice has lost none of it's luster and you can really hear what a great singer he is in this arrangment with just an acoustic guitar. The studio version was always way too fluffy for me. So kick back, enjoy those beautiful high notes, and chew a few thoughts over your lost loved ones:
