With a Bo Diddley beat ripped raw combined with teenage angst and
a sense of Albert Ayler freedom, The STOOGES assaulted us
in 1969 – 40 short (or, is it “long”?) years ago. Iggy Pop got the
press, but RON ASHETON provided the crunch and scrunch with
his demented guitar wails.

RON ASHETON: Found dead today at age 60.

Won’t you put aside your Rice Chex for a moment and give
them a great big hand…

Ah, the Golden 60s. The era of the non-singer heartthrob. Here's one:

Richard Chamberlain, singing the theme from his series "Dr. Kildare"

Here's another

George Maharis (who could sing a bit, but wasn't known as a singer) - "Baby Has Gone Bye Bye"

Far be it from me to poke fun of actors who can't sing - singing!
But I thought I'd add Clint Eastwood (who makes Richard Chamberlain sound like Pavarotti!) to this curious mix ...

Oh, the palpitations!

Here's Michael Landon making like a combination of Andy Williams and Ricky Nelson with "Dear Heart"

I'm feeling the desperate need to erase the sound of Sal Mineo's voice
reverberating through my shocked consciousness (thanx ChiO ... NOT!!!)
with some bad singing that's genuinely hilarious - Mark Wahlberg
(a big fan of Robert Ryan - whoo hoo!) in Boogie Nights!

OK, Mookie -- I've got something to make us all feel better.

So he's not actually the 60s heartthrob who's singing. Who cares? (I've got no problem with hearing The Boss, have you?)
