Two more Chicago music icons left us this week.
May God bless Fontella Bass and Inez Andrews.

Oh my gosh, Fontella Bass is one of my favorite singers from the era when I was just barely starting to listen to the radio. Rescue Me is probably my favorite song of that time period. She had a gorgeous, huge sounding voice, never strained but smooth and rich.
May they both rest in peace.

Whew! There's some steamy chemistry there.
I love Bobby. My favorite of his is this one, I like it pretty much any time I hear it, in french, english or whatever. But then I like any song with a 1-6-2-5 progression.

Re: DEWEY'S RECORD PARTY!
It's the progression of chords that is the basis for the song.... um, lets see. The chords are numbered, and the order of them is like this: C-A-D-G. So that's 1-6-2-5 in numbers, at least in the key of C. Hundreds of songs are based on these four chords. Like:

Can you hear that bounce of chords at the beginning of each song? The riff at the beginning is pretty straightforward 1-6-2-5 chord progression.

Sometimes it's known as the Blue Moon progression, or an ice cream progression, since it lends itself to sweet sounding melodies that are familiar and comforting.

Seeing Bob Mould on Austin City Limits tonight reminds me of these
