DEWEY'S RECORD PARTY!
Re: DEWEY'S RECORD PARTY!
We went a Ching-Yun Hu piano recital last night. She opened with
this, which was the highlight for me.
Thought of you, Movieman1957.

Oh my gosh, I forgot about Run To Me! I loved that song. Their harmonies totally make it work.
I've Gotta Get A Message to You is probably tied with RTM as my favorite.
Oh yeah and

Re: DEWEY'S RECORD PARTY!
On the Radio is probably my favorite of those songs. There is something very heartfelt and longing in the slower parts that I really love. Her voice is lovely and plaintive, which she didn't get to do much.

Given the events of the past week, it's nice to celebrate
the birthday of one of the giants -- if not the giant -- of
popular music for the past (dare I say it?) 50 years.

Ballad of a Thin Man

It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

Stunned...numbed and shocked by the passing of Donna Summer. She kept her life private. Very sad news. Her voice was as clear as a bell. Sad.

I'm afraid you must. I, myself, was not aware of this musical giant quite that early. But what's a couple of years to half a century? If I say this is the most influential person in post-war American music, the statement can be challenged. I'll call on Mr. Eastwood to respond. Go ahead. Make my day!
Singers still attempt the Dylan sound. Song writers weave words and phrases to poetic effect. Coffee shops brim with one man bands and backstreet troubadors. Some are good. Some are not. All owe something to the man who popularized it those five chaotic decades ago. From folk to rock, from country to gospel, the Dylan stamp has been unforgettable. If that hasn't been proven already, I'm betting it will be in the years to come.
I'll see you in the sky above
In the tall grass, in the ones I love.
You're gonna make me lonesome when you go.

Aaaaah! "TOOTSIE." How can that be thirty years ago. I worked in a movie theatre that "Tootsie" played in so I saw it a lot. Look at how young Jessica Lange looks. She was so pretty. Great movie...and I like Bishop's easy listening voice.
