Favorite music? Soul...'60s...Southern...Ballads.

Okay. There were a few Soul Ballads in the '70s...not even including
Al Green.

Luther Ingram - If Lovin' You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right) (1972)

The Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New (1974)

The O'Jays - Let Me Make Love to You (1975)

The Floaters - Float On (1977)

Gosh, there was a time when I first moved to Chicago that you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing The Stylistics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, or Al Green. These songs were my first introduction to soul music.

Here are some of my favorites, kitschy, maybe, but they still get to me.

Oops! Didn't read right the first time, it's southern soul? My bad.

LOVE Otis. I didn't think anyone could match Otis for intensity, but those were all great! The Sam and Dave one really got me.

Chicago's cross between Nick Drake and Richie Havens,
with a touch of his boyhood pal, Curtis Mayfield, has died.

My goodness! Do you suppose that lead singer was getting some? He just oozed confidence. I bet he had roguish ability with the ladies.

I've always loved that first song, thanks for posting it and the others by the Duprees. Very nice.

Do you suppose that lead singer was getting some?
I keep reading the question and keep coming up with the same
question: Some what?

Well, that may be The Eternal Question for the Ages. In the meantime,
this is now -- until Christmas -- declared to be the repository of
the Greatest Christmas Song EVER by its Greatest Interpreter

No...it gets no better than that.
