BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
Of Capricorn mothers and kingrat's "THE CONVERSATION" eavesdrop, Bronxgirl48...
I recently read an analysis of Jane Fonda's character in 'klute' which referenced Linda Goodman's SUN SIGNS.
Instead of assigning Scorpio to the Bree Daniels character as we once agreed, Bronxgirl48, Fonda's birth sign - Capricorn - was blurred with her sex worker role...
I was surprised to find the Federal Glass mug for Scorpio offered the sign's ancient ruler, Mars, instead of its modern (dwarf) planet, Pluto:

Lordy, is Klute responsible for all the girls being named Bree? I grew up in a completely Bree-less world. Jane Fonda's shag haircut also set a trend.

Yea, I just googled Bree Daniels and found out she is an American porn star.
Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
Yeah, and so did I just now. I then hit "Images" to see what she looks like. Cute little thing, isn't she?!jamesjazzguitar wrote: ↑May 25th, 2024, 1:50 pmYea, I just googled Bree Daniels and found out she is an American porn star.
(...and so now if you'll excuse me here, I'm gonna change my Safe Search filter function to the "Off" setting in order to get a little more "detailed" picture of the young lady)

Fonda is a Sagittarius Sun. (Moon in Leo, Capricorn Rising)
My favorite performance of Jane's is BAREFOOT IN THE PARK. Great supporting cast -- Robert Redford (at ease in comedy), Charles Boyer and Mildred Natwick.
Shama-Shama!

My brother watched this on a local TV station when he was about 10 (this would've been in the late 70s). For weeks afterwards, he went about the house singing Shama shama ela mal kemama nonstop.Bronxgirl48 wrote: ↑May 26th, 2024, 11:13 pm Fonda is a Sagittarius Sun. (Moon in Leo, Capricorn Rising)

I had no idea how to spell that, except that when I was in NYC last summer and was browsing in Theatre Circle on 44th, I came across the script for the play and bought it. The last two words in the play are "Shama shama"

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
NoShear, thanks for starting this thread.
There is something about KLUTE and some observations about the name of Jane Fonda's character in that movie that I've wanted to post about for awhile, but I didn't want to post it in one of the general topic threads because I knew that it would ultimately get buried.
But I also didn't know if it was a discussion that warranted its own thread.
Now that there's a thread with "Bree Daniels" in the title, I will post my comments here.
Has anyone else ever noticed the inconsistency of the surname of Jane Fonda's character Bree in KLUTE?
The character's name appears as "Bree Daniel" [no "s" at the end] in the closing credits, but she is usually referred to as "Bree Daniels" [with a final "s"] in the actual movie.
To my knowledge, the only character who ever refers to her as "Bree Daniel" [no "s'] is John Klute, the detective played by Donald Sutherland.
And, even he uses "Daniels" [with the 's"] at least once.
In the closing credits, the name appears as "Bree Daniel":
When Klute first tries to question Bree, he says "“Miss Daniel, my name is Klute. John Klute,” and when she's evasive he says “You know what I’m talking about, Miss Daniel” :
However, in a later scene, Bree answers the phone with "Bree Daniels?":
When Klute is trying to get the suspected murderer to tip their hand he claims to have learned that one of the victims had a "little black book [that] contained name of the client who beat up Bree Daniel":
When Bree is waiting for her psychiatrist to come to the office, the receptionist says to her to her “Mrs. Daniels, I have to close up now. Leave your name and number . . .":
When Bree visits the office of Mr. Goldfarb, an elderly client, she asks the secretary (played by Jean Stapleton), "Did he leave a message for me? Bree Daniels?":
At Mr. Goldfarb's office, Bree calls her psychiatrist's service and asks "Hello, this is Bree Daniels, has the doctor checked in?":
When Klute calls the psychiatrist's office trying to locate Bree, he says "“I’m trying to locate a Miss Bree Daniels.” {I think this is the only time that he uses "Daniels" with the final "s"]:
And . . . in the final scene, just before the credits roll, Bree answers the phone "Bree Daniels?":
This is just before the character is listed as Bree Daniel [without the "s"] in the credits . . .

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
Jane White's performance as the "madam" Janie Dale in KLUTE is one of those examples of a great actor giving their all to bring a small role fully to life.
It's not surprising that most of her work was in the theater.
The scene with Janie Dale (part of the sequence where John Klute and Bree are trying to locate Arlyn Page) is one of the highlights of KLUTE for me.
JANIE [on phone] Whenever it suits you. . . . No, make it Monday at 8 PM. . . . I said Monday 8 PM, baby, now don't be naughty. [hangs up phone]
[to Bree and Klute] He's a lovely man. Comes here. Spends a bundle of money. Never even touches the girls. Comes from Grosse Point, has a big house, eight servants. But all he wants to do is come here and scrub out my bathroom. [writing entry in appointment book] "8 PM Monday. Mr. Clean."

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
Good detective work! I never noticed the confusion over Daniel/Daniels in the film and I've seen it many times. I always thought it was Daniels. I guess they couldn't make up their mind(s).
Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
I, too, grew up in a Bree-less world! I'd never heard of the name until the film came out. It's quite possible it wasn't her real name anyway (the film doesn't go into details). It may have been her "stage" name or her escort name she chose to stand out from the ordinary.
The shag cut had been around for a short while, but Jane definitely made it more popular after appearing in this film.

Re: BREE DANIELS: SCORPIO RISING?
Jane Fonda said in at least one interview that one of the reasons she got the shag haircut was because she knew that Roger Vadim (her husband at the time) wouldn't like it.Hibi wrote: ↑June 4th, 2024, 11:12 amI, too, grew up in a Bree-less world! The haircut was not something that she got for the role in KLUTE as many people thought.

Shama-Shama!
As for Jane, On Golden Pond is my favorite.
She sizzles in the backflip scene and the previous swimsuit scene too.
I looked up Bree Daniels but its all in French.
She resembled Twiggy.
Woof! You've Got Mail!
