I'm surprised that Sophia Loren is still with us. Checking her age - I did not know that she is 80. Robert Osborne is in a treat interviewing her. Fascinating Lady.

Scott Feinberg announced new TCMFF 2015 addtions on his Hollywood Reporter column :

"To mark the 60th anniversary of her big screen debut, the legendary Shirley MacLaine — a best actress Oscar winner for Terms of Endearment (1983) — will be feted at screenings of her films The Apartment (1960) and The Children's Hour (1961) and will also participate in an in-depth conversation about her storied career with TCM's beloved on-air host Robert Osborne.

Peter Fonda, one of the three stars of the landmark 1969 film Easy Rider, will headline a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of his father, the Oscar-winning actor Henry Fonda, as part of which he will introduce screenings of the senior Fonda's Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) and My Darling Clementine (1946) participate in a conversation with bestselling author Scott Eyman.

Sean Connery's successor as 007, George Lazenby, will introduce a screening of the one film in which he played the character, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

And Robert Morse, the Tony-winning stage-turned-film-turned-TV actor, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of Bert Cooper on Mad Men, will introduce a screening of The Loved One, the 1965 comedic adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel of the same title about Hollywood.

The fest, this year's theme of which is "History According to Hollywood," has also announced that three people whose lives have been depicted on screen — Tony Mendez (Argo), Aron Ralston (127 Hours) and Mark Schultz (Foxcatcher) — will appear together on a panel, "A Surreal Life Existence: My Life as Portrayed in Life," and that Capt. James Lovell, whose story was told in Apollo 13, will attend a 20th anniversary screening of that film.

Here's the link to the official update: http://248058275.r.cdn77.net/wp-content ... L-2.26.pdf

Christopher Plummer is scheduled for the Hand and Footprint ceremony on March 27, but it has not yet been formally announced. A couple of Hollywood websites have Pllummer announced, but the specific time is not designated. (10 a.m. has been the time normally scheduled for other celebrity ceremonies during the festival like Jane Fonda, Kim Novak, and Peter O'Toole.)

In case Kingrat is around (we've been champions of this coming to the fest for some time)-

The Man Who Would Be King has been added to the schedule!!!!! It will be shown in 35mm with Christopher Plummer in attendance. Might Danny and/or Anjelica Huston join him to talk about the film? We can hope.......
Lynn in Lake Balboa

Tonight, Diane Sawyer gives us the "Untold story of The Sound of Music"on ABC in a special segment of 20/20: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/ful ... e-29627717

Some of my picks for the TCM Film Festival that begins NEXT THURSDAY:

Some of my thoughts and picks for the festival include:

The #1 US find: THE GRIM GAME (A 1919 film starring Houdini)

The #1 UK surprise: THE WAR GAME

The #1 Noir--TOO LATE FOR TEARS

My top picks in no particular order as to prominence(and I hope I am able to see all of them as I have media credentials):

#1 A personal favorite--CALAMITY JANE, with Doris Day and Howard Keel

#2 Some say one of the best James Bond films ever made: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE with
special guest, George Lazenby

#3 MARRIAGE ITALIAN STYLE with Sophia Loren

#4 THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE with Keith Carradine

#5 THE SOUND OF MUSIC with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer

#6 THE APARTMENT WITH SHIRLEY MACLAINE

#7 THE CINCINNATI KID WITH ANN-MARGRET

#8 MALCOM X with Spike Lee.

#9 THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING with Christopher Plummer

#10 LENNY with Dustin Hoffman

#11 Another personal fave--A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS (Paul Scofield made this one of his signature
roles on the stage, and won an Oscar for the film.

CLUB TCM INTERVIEWS: Shirley Maclaine, Anne Coates, Peter Fonda

EXTENDED CONVERSATIONS: Sophia Loren and Robert, Norman LLoyd and Ben

PRECODE: The Smiling Lieutenant with Claudette Colbert, Miriam Hopkins, and Maurice Chevalier

I am still changing my mind! So many fabulous choices this year.

Also some of my faves: Desk Set, The Wind and the Lion, My Man Godfrey, The French Connection (with William Friedkin), The Philadelphia Story, Queen Christina, Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine,
and Norma Rae. And I'm wondering if Sally Field will be announced as the final guest, making it a total of 10 Oscar-winners to grace this year's TCM Film Festival.

I am hoping some of the films I have to miss will play on TBA Sunday....

Check out all the fabulous films here: http://filmfestival.tcm.com/programs/
