Too bad, that he only made one film - George Lazenby was an excellent Bond and I was very frustrated that he did not get a second chance after Sean Connery came back and do one film in 1971 in Diamonds are Forever and then the 7 Films run of Roger Moore starting in 1973 and ending in 1985.

Lazenby deserved better.

Erik, with George Lazenby in attendance, it will prove to be a very popular screening!

UPDATE: Eduardo Ponti will interview his mother, Sophia Loren, on Saturday, in lieu of Robert Osborne after his recent announcement here: http://248058275.r.cdn77.net/wp-content ... FINAL2.pdf

In addition, actress Madelein Stowe will introduce The Philadelphia Story.

Also, Bob Koster, son of director Henry Koster will also be in attendance. Henry Koster directed such classics as My Man Godfrey and Harvey.

I bet that he will get more fans (George Lazenby) after this screening. I considered On Her Majesty Secret Service back in 1969 was one of the best all around 007 movies made. Here's the trailer below.

And, I would love to meet Bob Koster too. I would love to have him as a guest star here in Silver Screen Oasis because I'm a big fan of his father, Henry Koster.

About Robert Osborne - Sue Sue

With his age (being 82) and current health issues - I feel that his impending retirement from TCM is coming to us faster than we expected and it will be a very sad and very joyful day at TCM - knowing that he's deserved to bow out and give others like Ben to take over as the Essentials Host.

To me, he is irreplaceable - he's Mr. TCM.

I would loved to see the Movie industry award him an honorary Oscar for his work in TCM - I don't see how it will be done but he's deserved one for the loves of movies that he shared to millions of viewers in TCM.

Erik, it's an excellent point about Robert being awarded an honorary Oscar for all that he has done to promote the Academy and its members, but I am not sure how realistic a desire that might be because of all the Academy rules. But it would be nice. :D

Dick Brookz and Dorothy Dietrich, from the Houdini Museum have been added to the schedule for Houdini.
Since they are magicians, might they perform at the festival? We'll find out soon! :D

We are having so much fun!!!

Highlights include Larry's Brigade dinner with a sighting of Christoph Waltz and character actor John Billingsley at Musso's, "Liberty Valance" with a beautiful print and kick-ass intro by Keith Carradine, the "Dawn of Technicolor" with all those amazing two-color clips!!!!!, lunch with friends,
Rory Flynn's talk in Club TCM, Ben M's bromance with real life hero Tony Mendez, the candor of Mark Shultz and Aron Ralston's great story about his mother's role in saving his life (and Capt. James Lovell in the audience with all of us!) to Ben M's great interview with a very funny George Lazanby prior to "OHMSS". Best so far, Scott Eyman's terrific interview with Peter Fonda in Club TCM that brought tears to our eyes (and we weren't the only ones!) and had us laughing out loud! And there's still two days to go! Thanks TCM and the great staff for making this all possible!!!!

The dog is mad at us for spending the weekend away from him (boy, is he not happy) and I am beyond tired but just wanted to drop a note to say how much fun I had with Larry's Brigade at this year's festival. I'll back with recaps once I get my land legs back but in the meantime, can't wait to see the Brigade at next year's Festival!!!! Lucky #7

We saw some wonderful films, heard some great stories from a variety of stars and a special shout-out to Ben M, whose dance card had to have exploded with the news that Robert O wouldn't be able to join us this year. Ben M did a yeoman's job and deserves all the kudos for a job very well done!!!!

I'll be back!

LARRY'S BRIGADE DINNER AT MUSSO AND FRANK'S, Wednesday evenng, at 7:00 p.m., on March 25....Image
The night before this lovely photo of Theresa, Larry, Paula, Sam, and Vickie on the Red Carpet appeared in the TCM Festival Live Photo Gallery, we all gathered for a fabulous night of wining, dining, and scintillating conversation at the historic Musso and Frank's restaurant.

Who arrived to be seated at our table? Paula, Alexa, Larry, Theresa and Joe, Sam, David, Lynn, Jon, and me!

Delicious fare from the menu and sparkling beverages made all the chit-chat flow back-and-forth like Hildy and Walter in His Girl Friday.

Image
Here Joe, Theresa, and Paula are giggling about something that's just not on the menu...

Image
Lynn and John smile and think about the surprise Lynn has for us...

Image
Lynn brought us all a copy of a book she has been reviewing! Thank you, Lynn!

Image
Paula rewards David for either sharing a secret or his entree...

Image
Larry with Sam from Florida bask in the soft glow of Musso and Frank's ambiance...

Later, I was able to introduce Larry to Monika Henreid, one of our SSO Guest Stars, and daughter of classic film legend Paul Henreid.
Thank you for a wonderful evening, Larry! :D
