At least yours say "short wait", I have six that are "unknown" availability which usually means nevermore...

Don't give up on those. I had a list of 5 or 6 that were "unknown" that is down to 2. There is hope.

I hope so. I gave up on 3 or 4 others that were "Unknown" for over three years!

To anyone who has experience renting classic films from Netflix and/or ClassicFlix as well as Facets:

Would you recommend one service over another? They appear to be fairly even in their pricing for DVD rental by mail. Is the inventory of one better than another?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

Moira,

I have both Netflix (DVDs only) and ClassicFlix because if I can't find a title at one I usually will at the other. ClassicFlix seems mostly pre-1960s titles whereas NetFlix has of course more inventory right up to new releases. Since I like 60s stuff, including westerns and TV shows, I've found it hard to let go of Netflix.

If ever I need to choose one or the other, I'd probably choose to keep ClassicFlix since they do get so many of those "MOD" DVDs.

Sigh. It's like going cold turkey off of chocolate or something, but I just cancelled my subscriptions to Classicflix and Netflix. I have to budget tightly these days, and had no choice, but it is crazy how dependent one can get. i had a whole long queue at ClassicFlix, too. Boo hoo. :( :( :(

Ah, the household budget blues...been there more than I've ever been in clover. I hope you feel more in control of things as a result--you certainly should feel more virtuous. I admire your self-discipline, Miss G. Almost as much as I admire that new avatar of.....Capucine?

lol, I am trying to sell myself on the idea that it's good for the soul to practice this kind of self-denial. :D

Yes, that's Capucine. Good eye!

I've just restarted the British equivalent, if I leave it for a few months they give me a good deal to come back to them but I've noticed more films are being streamed these days rather than being available to rent as discs, it's obviously the way it's going these days.

Ha! I'd love to be as skinny as Capucine again, but I'll never touch her for beauty. Wendy, now who is THAT on the motorcycle? I can't keep up with the vroom vrooms! :D

That's right, Knitty! I'm still curious who it is in Wendy's avatar.
