Someone suggested a remake of The Snake Pit, but the only person I can conceive of possibly playing that role would have to be Charlise Theron. After North Country, Monster, and Sweet November, I think she would be perfect. H'wood would probably go for Kidman, but she just doesn't have the chops for a part like this.

I thought a good shrink was Gregory Peck as Captain Newman. He knew his patients after studying them, and came up with albeit unusual, cures, but they worked.

Moira: I have another film to add to your list for psych week - The Locket with Lorraine Day.

The Locket (1946-John Brahm) would be a pip to include, Anne. I have always liked Laraine Day, but that role was surely the very best of her career. I also like Brian Aherne as the shrink who was also one of the victims of the leading lady. Of course, I know the person in the cast that you would be intrigued by...

The cinematography of Nicholas Musuraca mirrors the psychological turmoil of Day's character beautifully.

Well then let's not leave out "Bewitched" starring Phyllis Thaxter. Or see a woman going mad as Joan Crawford did in "Possessed" one of the few times I've liked Raymond Massey.

David Steinberg could host the evening. I loved his crazy psychiatrist routine!

I'm sure you're correct girl, but I try not to overwhelm people with my favorites, unless I'm reviewing one of his movies.
